A VOTE AND A GIVEAWAY TO NAME OUR NEW STORE!

After months and months of batting around ideas and options for the name of my new furniture line, I think I've come up with a shortlist.  And since you all are my target audience, it would mean the world to me to have your opinion on this!  I'm bleary-eyed from looking at these words for too long and I really need some fresh perspective.  Do any of these jump out at you?

The name needs to be suitable for both my new furniture commerce website (meaning the web address must be available, which naturally eliminates a lot of options) and for a brick and mortar store here in LA (which doesn't exist yet but may be in the works!)

Rosa Beltran Design will always exist as the name of my interiors consulting firm.  But for the furniture store I want a pretty and creative name that grabs your attention, is memorable, and rolls off the tongue.

Please vote for your favorites in the comment section below, and feel free to suggest ideas of your own!  I will randomly select 3 people to receive a pair of pillow covers from this pretty Spring collection of floral and ikat prints from our Rue Mag shoot.

Now, down to the business of naming ....

I love simple, succinct business names made up of one single word, but it's tricky because most of those URLs are already taken.  So one option is to design a logo like this, which emphasizes the main word and tacks on the smaller word "Home" (since the URL would actually be burnishhome.com)

Or I could always use the entire name like this (these fonts are just experimental ...
once I have the name figured I'll work on the final look, font, etc.)

Or an alternate spelling like this, which is fun because it includes the word "niche" as well ...

Other options we like ...

For the longest time I was hooked on the word Indigo for the name, although the
obvious choices Indigo and Indigo Home aren't available.  What do you think of these?

Or by tacking on an extra word, these names become an option ...

Thanks so much for weighing in ... I appreciate your input more that you know!

xoxo,

I'm drawn to Burniche and Indigo Bench. Patina and Layered both feel a bit like of-the-moment buzzwords to me, and don't seem as unique and interesting to me personally.

So exciting! Good luck!

Indigo Home. Simple and lovely.

Burniche is my favorite. Its a clever play on words!

I like Burniche or Indigo Made

I like Patina.

Merriam Webster -- an appearance or aura that is derived from association, habit, or established character.

I really like Indigo Home! I agree with the commenter that Patina and Layered both sound trendy. Indigo Home sounds classic. I would see that name and want go to inside to check it out.

Not Burnish or Burniche. The latter just makes it seem too cute and/or like you can't spell. I really like Indigo Home Co. Seems classic and respectable and not too trendy.

I like Indigo Bench. To me, Burniche sounds way pretentious. Indigo Bench is cool and you don't know exactly what it is, but you want to :)

Indigo Made is my favorite, but I also like the Indigo Home. Best of luck in everything!

My vote is the last one, Indigo Home Co. I like the simple font and am not a fan of anything more fancy or like handwriting. Good luck! Just found this blog and love it.

Rosa Belle jumped into my head! Good luck. Loving this blog by the way!

My favorites are Burnish Home and Indigo Home. I also prefer the simplest font. The clean lines draw me in.

My favorite is the Indigo Home!

I like Burnish (especially first font). It's like a warm, golden-brown hum of comfort, and links with "furnish." Patina is a beautiful word, but chillier.

I meant "first font" - the strong one for Burnish

I beg you not to go with Burniche! A punny name is awful. I live in LA and would shop at any of the others. Maybe I have a slight preference for the Indigo Home? Indigo Made feels very hipster and I think will look as dated as say Indigo Provisions would in a couple of years.

I don't like names of stores one is not sure how to pronounce. And Burniche feels like one of those names. I really like Layered Home, as most of us are not good at layering and designers are, which is why I would choose your store. Indigo Home Co. is the second but it gets to be too long. Simple font all the way. Too bad I live in Canada otherwise I would visit your store all the time. Good luck!

Indigo Made really jumps out at me. I get an immediate mental image with it. I know the formal definition, but the word Burnish itself gives me a fiery, burnt connotation - not the best pairing with 'Home'! But that's just my two cents. Good luck with the naming! I know how hard it is.

BURNISH
Home
all the way. Patina makes me think of Patina Farm (the Gianetti's new home recently in "Veranda"), so might get confused with them. Burniche is too cutesy. And Indigo seems too associated with the color, no matter what's appended to it. But so far, I seem to be outvoted. ;-)

BURNISH Home for sure! 2nd choice is Indigo Home.

Wow, you have such a great logo, the RB looks like Hermes or Gucci, or just Beltran is such a great name.
Beltran Designs is your name.
Burnish sounds like something you want to get rid of, even though it means to enhance or perfect. I still think it sounds negative. Patina is nice but reminds me of the restaurant and well for what it's worth
BELTRAN or RB or Rosa Beltran designs is the winner in my book.
Good luck!!!

I'd go with Burnish Home (although I'd prefer something that features your actual name). Like others, I dislike Burniche; it's too cutesy and may cause potential customers to miss you if they misspell it. Any variation of Indigo may be too "of the moment" as that color is so popular right now, and may not stand the test of time. I also associate Patina with other businesses. Lastly, I think Burnish better describes what you do as a designer. It implies that you do something to something shabby to make it beautiful. Patina just happens on its own, with no human interaction necessary. Good luck!

What about Burnish Home Co. ? Combined my favs! Good luck!

Burnish stands out as the most unique and memorable name. (Well, Burniche is unique, but it seems a but corny/not as nice.) Patina makes me think of the Gianettis, and Indigo seems like such a commonly used name (there's already indigohome.com & indigohome.us, plus there's a song called Indigo Home, etc.)

Patina all the way

I like Burnish Home. It hasn't been done. All the best with this endeavor!

Another vote for burniche- it grabs me!

Vanessa said...

Burnish Home for the win! There's just something about it that works. It has that "it" factor if you will.

Love all those names. I mentioned on Instagram I thought that you could always pick one name, and use the other names in a tagline. Indigo Home Co. is my favorite!

Indigo Made....I see banish in burnish and antiques and age in patina.

Hi Rosa, I'm wondering why you don't go with Rosa Beltran Design - The Layered Home since it will tie your design company in with the bespoke furniture pieces that you make under your name as well, so there will be a smoother transition, but I also like Indigo Home. Good luck with choosing, you have plenty of options! Sharon

How about Beltran Home...? Keep it simple but easy to remember...

Burnish sounds sophisticated and hints New Mexico.

Hey Rosa, I'm a big fan of Nancy Friedman's naming info on her blog Fritinancy. She has loads of helpful info about naming businesses, which will help you a ton in making these decisions. I used them to name my own company (I'm an online dating coach and I rebranded a few years ago as The Heartographer). Good luck, whatever name you end up going with!

Hi Rosa, I like all except "Burnish." It sounds negative to me. Good luck and so happy for your growth!
